Organic used fukamushicha tea leaf vongole

Fukamushicha is deep-steamed green tea.
Ingredients (1 serving):
1 heaped teaspoon (2-3g) organically grown deep-steamed tea
250ml water
100g spaghetti
About 200g clams
1 clove garlic thinly sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil or salad oil
A splash of Japanese sake or white wine
Salt and pepper
Parmesan to serve
Method:
1. De-sanding the clams. Fill a bowl with water and add a teaspoon of salt. Immerse the clams in the water. Put the bowl in the fridge for a couple of hours.
2. Brew sencha fukamushicha, take out the used tea leaves and drain. Please refer to the article
How to brew sencha (steamed green tea) on this site. Put aside the tea to drink later.
3. Bring some water to boil in a pan. Add a pinch of salt, cook the pasta for about 8 minutes until al dente.
4. Put the oil in a frying pan and fry the sliced garlic over a low heat.
5. Add the desanded clams, cooked pasta and tea leaves to the pan, and cook gentle, before adding a splash of sake or white wine.
Add salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle with grated cheese to serve.
*Tea leaves contain caffeine. The diuretic, stimulant and anticancer effects of caffeine intake are clinically recognized. On the other hand, excessive intake of caffeine may have a damaging effect on health. Especially, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children should be careful with the amount of caffeine they intake.
