Sencha is medium-steamed green.
Ingredients:
2 heaped teaspoons tea leaves of organically grown sencha (about 4 to 5g)
500ml hot water
150g pancake mix
100ml milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons olive oil or salad oil
3-4g salt (reduce the salt for a slightly sweeter flavor)
pepper
50-70g your favorite cheese
* You can add bacon, chopped crab stick, cherry tomatoes, corn, etc.
Pound cake mold 20 x 6 x 6cm
Method:
1. Brew sencha, take out the used tea leaves and drain. Please refer to the article
How to brew sencha (steamed green tea) on this site. Put aside the tea to drink later.
2. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
3. Tear the cheese into bite-sized pieces.
4. Break the egg into a bowl with the pancake mix, milk, olive oil, salt and pepper, and mix thoroughly.
5. Add the tea leaves and the cheese and stir to mix.
6. Line the cake mold with baking parchment, or apply a thin layer of olive oil with kitchen paper to the inside of the cake mold.
7. Pour the mixture into the cake mold.
8. Drop the mold containing the mixture several times from a height of about 2 cm onto a cutting board, to release air from the mixture.
9. Bake in the middle of the oven, preheated to 200 °C, for about 30 minutes.
When a bamboo skewer stuck into the cake comes out clean, it is completely baked.
*Tea leaves contain caffeine. The diuretic, stimulant and anticancer effects of caffeine intake are clinically recognized. On the other hand, excessive intake of caffeine may have a damaging effect on health. Especially, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children should be careful with the amount of caffeine they intake.
