Takase tea
It is said that the lord of the Takamatsu Domain, MATSUDAIRA Yorishige created a tea garden for tea ceremonies during the Edo Period and thus the tea industry began in Kagawa Prefecture. Now tea is cultivated and produced in Mitoyo City, Manno Town and Takamatsu City.
About 70% of the tea in Kagawa Prefecture is cultivated in the mountainous areas of Takase Town in Mitoyo City.
The tea shop, Takase no chanoki sells various types of Takase tea.

A signboard which mentions the birthplace of Takase tea is placed in the tea fields on the hill in Takase, Mitoyo City.

Chagayu (tea porridge) using Goishi tea
Chagayu uses Goishi tea which was before produced in Iwaguro-jima Island, Sakaide City but presently produced in Otoyo Town, Kochi Prefecture. The chagayu is made by brewing the tea with roasted soybeans, azuki beans and rice. When eating the chagayu, add salt to flavor. The chagayu was eaten for breakfast or served when people are gathered.
