Ono tea
Tea cultivation began under the leadership of the Choshu Domain from the end of the Edo Period with the tea then being called Bochou tea.
Now, tea fields extend over a small hill near Lake Ono in Ube City. The tea presently is called Ono tea.

Fog generated from Lake Ono gives the tea a rich taste. The flavor of Ono tea is faint sweetness with bitterness.
A tea shop of Yamaguchi Chagyo is near Lake Ono. Yamaguchi Chagyo not only produces sencha but also kamairicha and other types of tea.
Pan-fired green tea ice cream can be eaten at the shop of Ono Chagyo.

Takase tea
Tea is cultivated and sencha and hojicha are produced in Takase, Shunan City.

Local people and high school students launched a project “Shinnanyo Ocha Project” to promote Takase tea.
Hojicha in a plastic bottle which is made of 100% Takase tea leaves is produced and being sold as part of the project.

A café named ORANGE CAFE in Shunan City developed a Hojicha latte base using Takase tea. You can buy the latte base and drink hojicha latte in the café.

Japanese tea shop Hachijuhachi 日本茶専門店八十八
There is a Japanese tea shop Hachijuhachi in Yamaguchi City.
Varieties of Japanese tea, such as sencha, matcha, hojicha, flavored tea, etc. are sold in the shop. The flavored tea is blended with Japanese herbs by the owner.
You can drink Japanese tea and eat Japanese confectionary in the shop.
