Nanbu tea
Nanbu tea is cultivated in Nanbu Town at the foot of the Minami Alps, which is located on the southernmost tip of Yamanashi Prefecture. Nanbu Town is a suitable place for tea cultivation because of its warm climate and plentiful rainfall. Mostly sencha is produced, which has a lovely aroma and refreshing taste.
Michinoeki Nanbu (road station) with the theme of Nanbu tea
You can enjoy Nanbu tea at Michinoeki Nanbu. There is a shop and a restaurant at Michinoeki Nanbu. Nanbu Yorokobi shokudo (Nanbu happy restaurant) serves Nanbu tea, Nanbu tea noodle and Nanbu tea sweets. The shop sells Nanbu tea and various products made with it such as Nanbu tea curry and furikake.
Kyushu catcher (Tea Pot catcher)
There is a kyusu catcher which is a crane game machine in Michinoeki Nanbu. Kyusu is a Japanese tea pot. If you catch a small brown kyusu, you receive one pack of Nambu tea. If you get a gold kyusu, you receive three packs of Nanbu tea.
Michinoeki:
Michinoeki is a roadside station in Japan. At present there are 1,194 michinoeki all over Japan (as of Feb. 2022). At a michinoeki, local food such as vegetables, fruit, meat, and sweets are sold, and there are cafes and restaurants too. In some michinoeki, there are hot spring facilities and inns as well.
