Tamacha

Tea is classified into six categories: green tea, white tea, yellow tea, blue tea (Oolong tea), black tea, and dark tea. This Site introduces various teas that CHAMART has drunk.

Green tea
Unfermented tea
Production area: Kumakogen Highlands, Ehime Prefecture
Flavor: Umami flavor with an aroma like the sea breeze, similar to seaweed
Tama (玉) means “a ball, jade, etc.” in Japanese. The shape and color of tamacha are round dark green lumps.
The tea has a good umami flavor like gyokuro which is a refined green tea, and has a mild bitterness.
Tamacha is generated during the sencha-making process, and these are usually unsellable. Thus, the price of tamacha is very reasonable in comparison with sencha.
Sencha is steamed green tea.
