Hoji Milk Tea

Hojicha is green tea which is steamed and roasted.

Ingredients:
3 heaped teaspoons of hojicha (about 3g)
100ml water
200ml milk
1 teaspoon sugar (or to taste)
A few marshmallows (optional)

Method:

1. Heat 100ml of water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
2. When it boils, add the roasted green tea leaves and reduce to a simmer over a medium heat for about 1 minute.
3. Add about 200 ml of milk to the saucepan and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring with a whisk.
4. Add sugar to taste.
5. Pour into a cup and add marshmallows to serve.
You can also try adding cinnamon powder or black pepper before drinking.

*Tea leaves contain caffeine. The diuretic, stimulant and anticancer effects of caffeine intake are clinically recognized. On the other hand, excessive intake of caffeine may have a damaging effect on health. Especially, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children should be careful with the amount of caffeine they intake.
