Ingredients (for 2 people):
Water 600ml
Hojicha tea leaves 4-5 teaspoons
Gelatin powder 5g
Lukewarm water 50cc
Sugar to taste
Milk or soy milk
Method:
1. Dissolve the gelatin powder in 50cc of lukewarm water.
2. Heat 600ml of water in a pot. Once it boils, add the hojicha tea leaves and let it simmer for a few minutes. Add sugar to your preferred sweetness.
*It is recommended to brew the hojicha strong and sweet.
3. Strain the hojicha leaves using a tea strainer.
Divide the hojicha into two separate containers.
Place one container in the refrigerator to chill. Let the other cool slightly and then mix in the dissolved gelatin.
4. Pour the gelatin-infused hojicha into glass cups, filling each to 1/4 to 1/3 full. Refrigerate until set.
5. Once the hojicha jelly is set, break it up with a fork. Add the chilled hojicha and milk (or soy milk).
*Tea leaves contain caffeine. The diuretic, stimulant and anticancer effects of caffeine intake are clinically recognized. On the other hand, excessive intake of caffeine may have a damaging effect on health. Especially, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children should be careful with the amount of caffeine they intake.
