Fukamushicha is deep-steamed green tea.
Ingredients (1 serving):
1 heaped teaspoon organic deep-steamed tea leaves (about 2 to 3g)
500ml of hot water
3 small potatoes
A little salt
1 knob of butter (optional)
Method:
1. Brew sencha tea, take out the used tea leaves and drain. Please refer to the article
How to brew sencha (steamed green tea) on this site. Put aside the tea to drink later.
2. Peel the potatoes, take the eyes out and chop them into bitesize pieces.
3. Bring water to boil in a saucepan, add a pinch of salt and boil the potatoes until they are soft.
4. When the potatoes are well cooked, drain them. Pierce the potatoes with a bamboo skewer to check to see if they are cooked.
5. Put the drained potatoes, used tea leaves, and butter into a pot and mix them with a wooden spatula. Cover the pot, hold the lid with your hand, and lightly shake the contents of the pan.
*Tea leaves contain caffeine. The diuretic, stimulant and anticancer effects of caffeine intake are clinically recognized. On the other hand, excessive intake of caffeine may have a damaging effect on health. Especially, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children should be careful with the amount of caffeine they intake.
